MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) — Caleb Flynn, former pastor and “American Idol” contestant, has been found guilty on all counts.<\/p>\n
A Miami County jury has found Caleb Flynn, 40, guilty of murdering his wife, Ashley, in their Tipp City home back in February.<\/p>\n
Opening statements for the trial began on Friday, September 18, and closing arguments wrapped up on Tuesday, September 29.<\/p>\n
The jury needed just a few hours to reach a verdict in this case that has gained national attention.<\/p>\n
Flynn claimed someone broke into their home and shot his wife in the head while she slept.<\/p>\n
However, investigators say he staged all of it, and wanted her out of the picture so he could pursue an extramarital affair.<\/p>\n
Flynn’s Defense team pushed back that the prosecution didn’t prove its case, citing that investigators failed to collect evidence linking Flynn to the murder.<\/p>\n
Jurors ultimately agreed Caleb Flynn did murder his wife and came to a guilty verdict.<\/p>\n
Flynn’s sentencing is planned for 3 p.m. on October 5.<\/p>\n
