In a recently filed schedule change, Emirates has confirmed that it will fly the Airbus A350-900 from its main hub at Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the UAE to Orlando International Airport<\/a> (MCO) in the US state of Florida. This lengthy nonstop route has been the domain of the Boeing 777 this year, but, now, the A350 is set to take its place. This, as it happens, will be something of a milestone. <\/p>\n

Indeed, with Emirates<\/a> having only previously flown the Airbus A350-900 to the US on a short-term basis to one destination earlier this year, the type’s debut on the Orlando route will mark its first long-term US deployment. On board, guests can expect three classes of travel, with Emirates deploying two slightly different seating layouts for the type. Let’s dive deeper into the data and examine the changes. <\/p>\n

November’s Aircraft Change<\/p>\n

As highlighted yesterday by Aero Routes, Emirates will swap the Boeing 777-200LR<\/a> for the Airbus<\/a> A350-900 on its daily route from Dubai to Orlando and back as of November 1, 2026. The outbound leg of this rotation is one for the night owls, with EK219 set to take off from Dubai at 3:05 AM local time. Its arrival into Orlando International Airport is scheduled for 10:20 AM local time on the same day. <\/p>\n

After a ten-hour turnaround, flight EK220 is then scheduled to leave Orlando at 8:20 PM local time. Like most eastbound transatlantic services, this flight operates overnight, with its arrival back into Dubai penciled in for 7:10 PM local time the next day. While the A350 is a relatively new aircraft type for Emirates, it is already seeing the benefits, as Chair Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said in November 2025<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“The Airbus A350\u2019s entry into service has given us welcome additional capacity. It has also enabled us to introduce Emirates\u2019 latest inflight products to more customers, including our popular Premium Economy seats.”<\/p>\n

Emirates’ First Long-Term A350 Flights To The US<\/p>\n

The Airbus A350-900’s deployment on the route from Dubai International Airport<\/a> to Orlando International Airport is meaningful for Emirates as it represents the first time that the carrier has flown the type to the US<\/a> on a long-term basis. According to Cirium<\/a>, an aviation analytics company, the only other time that it has sent the type to an American airport came in April of this year, to Boston (BOS). <\/p>\n

That month, the Airbus A350-900 temporarily replaced the Boeing 777-300ER on Emirates’ route from Dubai to Boston Logan Airport. However, it only operated 12 rotations with the type before handing back to the ‘Triple-Seven.’ According to fleet data made available by ch-aviation, Emirates currently has a grand total of 27 A350s in its fleet<\/a> (aged 0.9 years old on average), with another 46 units on order.<\/p>\n

Historically speaking, the Orlando route has not been Emirates’ strongest performer when it comes to load factors. Indeed, data from Cirium shows that, in the 12 months to June 2026, just 69.87% of the seats that it offered on this corridor were filled. However, the carrier will be hoping that the new Airbus A350-900 will be a sufficiently tantalizing prospect when it comes to getting more guests to fly the route.<\/p>\n

As detailed in the table below, data from aeroLOPA shows that Emirates offers two different layouts on its A350s<\/a>. Both have more capacity than the 777-200LRs that they are replacing on the Orlando route: these older Boeing<\/a> jets have 276 seats (38 in business class, 24 in premium economy, and 214 in economy). Crucially, however, all of the A350’s business class seats offer passengers direct aisle access. <\/p>\n

This is possible thanks to the four-abreast 1-2-1 configuration, whereas window-seat flyers in the 777-200LR’s business class cabin do not have direct aisle access on account of its six-abreast 2-2-2 layout. There is also one seat fewer per row in premium economy (seven vs eight) and economy (nine vs ten), making the A350 a considerable upgrade on most fronts.
