USA Today<\/a> reported that Lether Bazile, who is the father of Belizaire’s 2-month-old daughter, became concerned after seeing a post on her WhatsApp story Thursday, September 24, that appeared to show she had purchased a Carnival cruise ticket.<\/p>\n Belizaire had allegedly told him she planned to leave the children with their great-grandmother, but the great-grandmother later told investigators that never happened, according to ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n Two days later, on Saturday, Bazile went to check on the apartment. He saw the television through the blinds and heard the children talking inside, which is when he decided to call 911.<\/p>\n Officers forced their way into the apartment and found all four children, including the infant and a 2-year-old, hiding together in the bathroom.<\/p>\n Police said the children were unharmed.<\/p>\n Belizaire’s brother later told investigators she had texted him to check on the kids, but he hadn’t reached the apartment before officers arrived.<\/p>\n Police said they made several unsuccessful attempts to reach Belizaire while she was traveling.<\/p>\n Belizaire declined to speak with investigators after her arrest, invoking her right to remain silent, according to the affidavit. She now faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, one for each child.<\/p>\n This isn’t Belizaire’s first brush with the law.<\/p>\n According to Cruise Blog<\/a>, court records show Belizaire has faced several prior cases in Miami-Dade County, including a 2023 misdemeanor battery charge, a 2024 aggravated battery with a weapon case and a 2025 aggravated battery causing bodily harm case. She was discharged from all previous charges, per official documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n Carnival addressed the arrest in a statement shared with USA Today<\/a>, saying, “Customs and Border Protection escorted a guest off Carnival Conquest upon the ship’s arrival in Miami. This was a law enforcement matter unrelated to the cruise or the operation of the ship, and we refer questions regarding the case to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.”<\/p>\n Local 10<\/a> reported that Florida’s Department of Children and Families is also investigating.<\/p>\n Belizaire appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer on Tuesday for a bond hearing, where the judge set her bond at $10,000.<\/p>\n The judge also ordered her to stay away from the children, Local 10 reported.<\/p>\n “You cannot make this up. It says she went on a cruise and left her children home alone,” Glazer said during the hearing.<\/p>\n The children have reportedly been placed in foster care, according to Daily Voice<\/a>.<\/p>\n Belizaire’s attorney said she denies the allegations.
