JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Rap artist Akeem Ali says fans attending his performance Wednesday night at Decca in Jacksonville can expect an energetic show filled with surprises and \u201cwow factors.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou come to my show to be entertained, to be wild and like, \u2018Oh, I didn\u2019t expect that, but I\u2019m glad I came,\u2019\u201d Ali said.<\/p>\n
Ali is returning to Jacksonville after performing in the city last year. He said the support he received from local fans made the city feel like home.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople were very genuine, very hospitable,\u201d Ali said. \u201cIt just felt like I didn\u2019t meet any strangers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ali said he expects an even bigger response this time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I\u2019ma get more,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n
For those unfamiliar with his music, Ali described his sound as \u201cvery unique\u201d and \u201cvery niche.\u201d He said his music includes nostalgic elements, poetic lyrics and smooth, sultry beats.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just feels kind of like poetry being spoken over nice, sultry music,\u201d Ali said.<\/p>\n
Ali also said his fashion, visuals and music are intentionally designed to push beyond the norm. He estimated that about 70% of his creative approach is intentional, while the rest comes from simply being himself.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m trying to constantly find something that goes against or breaks the norm,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is me, but then I\u2019m also thinking, \u2018What can I do to make this more?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Ali told fans to prepare for \u201ca lot of fun moments\u201d and unexpected moments during the show.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you guys for your support, for showing up, showing out,\u201d Ali said. \u201cThank you for your time, your energy, your efforts, for rallying for me, backing me. We\u2019re gonna have an amazing show tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n
