FORT MYERS \u2014 An orchid show is set for Oct. 9-11 at Edison and Ford Winter Estates.<\/p>\n
The facility is partnering with the Southwest Florida Orchid Society, according to a news release.<\/p>\n
The weekend orchid show will include a plant sale and workshops, it stated.<\/p>\n
The show starts Oct. 9. Judging begins after 1 p.m. that day and continues through October 11.<\/p>\n
From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 10-11, free educational workshops take place. They will focus on orchids, cacti and tillandsias, the news release stated.<\/p>\n
Vendors will be on site with plants available for purchase, it stated.<\/p>\n
The show is sponsored by the Southwest Florida Orchid Society.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe weekend program provides an opportunity for gardeners to learn how to grow and care for orchids, cacti and tillandsias, as well as find and purchase plants that are not always available at garden centers,\u201d the news release stated. \u201cThe workshops will take place under a tent in the research gardens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMembers of the public may submit an orchid for judging between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, or come and view the orchids and watch the judging,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n
The orchid show and event are open to the public. Admission to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates is necessary.
