You wonder whether the Dolphins can score 10 points without RB De\u2019Von Achane (knee). The most they scored this season with him in the lineup was 13. You also wonder whether the Dolphins can hold up to the bevy of blitzes from Minnesota defensive coordinator Brian Flores<\/a>, the ex-Dolphins coach. If the Dolphins are going to have any chance, the offensive line must play better.<\/p>\n David Furones, Dolphins Writer (Season record: 2-1): Vikings 27, Dolphins 13<\/p>\n I\u2019m actually worried I may be picking too high of a score for the Dolphins if ex-Miami coach Brian Flores, now Vikings defensive coordinator, is on his game with his pressures and blitzes. He can shut down running quarterbacks, so I worry about Malik Willis handling those exotic blitzes. But Miami, even without De\u2019Von Achane, should keep the Vikings honest with a commitment to the run<\/a>. If they can play physical up front and win time of possession, that\u2019s their path to playing tight, especially if wide receiver Justin Jefferson is able to play for Minnesota.<\/p>\n Kathy Laughlin, Sports Editor (Season record: 2-1): Vikings 27, Dolphins 6<\/p>\n The rebuilding Dolphins will be hard-pressed to muster much offense<\/a> on the road against the 3-0 Vikings, especially with De\u2019Von Achane out for the season. Minnesota\u2019s defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the former Dolphins head coach, likely will utilize his many heavy-blitz packages to rattle Miami QB Malik Willis. The Vikings had six sacks and two interceptions in last week\u2019s 23-16 win at Tampa Bay. The spread would be much bigger if Minnesota had a more consistent offense with quarterback Kyler Murray. Things seemed hopeless even before Miami lost star running back De\u2019Von Achane for the season. Facing a dominant Vikings defense, scoring a touchdown may be out of reach for the reeling Dolphins. The bigger question is when will Miami get its first win.<\/p>\n Steve Svekis, Assistant Sports Editor (Season record: 2-1): Vikings 27, Dolphins 17<\/p>\n The Dolphins go up against former coach Brian Flores as a defensive coordinator for the first time since his 2022 departure from Miami, and also quarterback Kyler Murray, who has a career-best 131.8 passer rating and 8.4-yard rushing average against the Dolphins. Miami quarterback Malik Willis faced a career-high 12 blitzes on Sunday against the Chiefs, but the pass protection was a wall, allowing only a 9.3 pressure percentage. A dozen blitzes sounds quaint when going up against Flores\u2019 blitz-addicted schemes. In the Vikings\u2019 three games this year, their defense has averaged 29 blitzes per game on pass plays. It should leave a lot of running space, for Willis and his targets, downfield.
