MIAMI, Oct. 1, 2026 \u2014 This Sunday, Oct. 4, beginning at 11 a.m., the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will host \u201cMadrid-Miami Celebrando la Hispanidad,\u201d a free family celebration highlighting Hispanic culture and heritage, as well as the enduring cultural ties between Miami and the Spanish capital.<\/p>\n
The highlight of the event will be a live international connection with Madrid during the Cabalgata de la Hispanidad 2026, a parade that travels along Madrid\u2019s historic Gran V\u00eda, featuring 15 floats and delegations representing 23 nationalities. The connection will allow audiences gathered at Miami\u2019s iconic Freedom Tower to experience the parade taking place in Spain, while programming and festivities in Miami will be shared live with Madrid.<\/p>\n
The United States is the guest country for this year\u2019s Hispanidad celebration in recognition of the 250th anniversary of its independence.<\/p>\n
\u201cMiami Dade College has always been a place where cultures, ideas and people come together,\u201d said MDC President Madeline Pumariega. \u201cCelebrando la Hispanidad reflects the important role Miami plays as a bridge between the United States, Spain and the Americas. By connecting our community with Madrid through culture, education and shared traditions, we are creating opportunities for our students and families to see themselves as part of a larger global community while celebrating the heritage that has helped shape Miami into one of the world\u2019s most dynamic and international cities.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event will feature live music, dance, children\u2019s activities and games, theater and interactive cultural experiences for guests of all ages. The celebration reflects MDC\u2019s commitment to creating opportunities that connect education, arts and culture with the global community. The Freedom Tower, a historic symbol of freedom and opportunity, provides a meaningful setting for an event bringing together the cultures and communities of Spain, the United States and the Americas.<\/p>\n
