(WITN) &#8211; This year\u2019s Walk To End Alzheimer\u2019s in Jacksonville saw more than 150 people come together to help raise thousands for the cause.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The event at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Complex brought together about 160 residents and raised over $44,600 to go toward the community\u2019s goal of fundraising $60,000.00 by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This money will help fund research, reduce risk, increase early detection, and provide care for those affected by Alzheimer\u2019s, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"The event at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Complex brought together about 160 residents...\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/NNY7P564CRBHXOKTRIIAUFVDDY.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"594\" \/>The event at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Complex brought together about 160 residents and raised over $44,600 towards the cause.(Alzheimer&#8217;s Association)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer\u2019s. With new treatments and proven lifestyle habits that support brain health, there is real hope,\u201d says Christine John-Fuller, executive director of the Alzheimer\u2019s Association &#8211; Eastern North Carolina Chapter. \u201cWe greatly appreciate all who supported us this year to make the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s in Jacksonville such a huge success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In North Carolina, officials say more than 210,000 people live with the disease. Onslow County has an Alzheimer\u2019s prevalence rate of 11.3% in its 65-and-up population.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During the event, residents participated in a Promise Garden ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">People can donate through the end of the year at the <a href=\"https:\/\/act.alz.org\/site\/TR;jsessionid=00000000.app20108b?fr_id=19757&amp;pg=entry&amp;NONCE_TOKEN=6CCBEB3C758E66A36D3657CC8337A84F\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fundraising website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
