JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A new Hard Rock tower may soon be coming to downtown Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
Plans for the proposed skyscraper were unveiled during a Downtown Development Review Board workshop on Thursday. <\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n Action News Jax\u2019s Madison Foglio spoke with the project\u2019s developer about his vision for the building.<\/p>\n The planned 30-story tower will have hotel rooms, condos, a nightclub, and more.<\/p>\n Developers of the proposed Hard Rock Jacksonville Hotel & Residences want to build the tower on Bay Street next to the U.S.S. Orleck. <\/p>\n It is the same property where the unfinished Berkman II building once stood before being demolished.<\/p>\n Michael Munz, president and CEO of Florida Innovation Capital, is the developer for Hard Rock Jacksonville.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will be a whole entertainment, hotel and residential development,\u201d Munz said.<\/p>\n Munz provided renderings of the proposed tower to Action News Jax.<\/p>\n Notably, the tower features a portion designed to look like a record album.<\/p>\n \u201cThat is going to actually be a nightclub,\u201d Munz said.<\/p>\n Munz said the development will also feature a strong musical influences.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ll have a strong musical theme also that pays homage to all the great music that\u2019s come out of Jacksonville over the last couple of centuries,\u201d Munz said.<\/p>\n Additionally, Munz said developers are looking to build a small auditorium for more entertainment purposes.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re looking at doing things like comedy clubs, small entertainment, maybe music, writer festivals, things along those lines,\u201d Munz said.<\/p>\n [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/a>] <\/p>\n Kevin Leis, who lives in Jacksonville, supports the idea of a Hard Rock tower downtown.<\/p>\n \u201cThat would be great,\u201d Leis said. \u201cWe need more hotels.
