{"id":418507,"date":"2026-10-04T14:40:06","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T14:40:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/418507\/"},"modified":"2026-10-04T14:40:06","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T14:40:06","slug":"arrest-made-in-pompano-shooting-that-left-fort-lauderdale-man-dead-sun-sentinel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/418507\/","title":{"rendered":"Arrest made in Pompano shooting that left Fort Lauderdale man dead \u2013 Sun Sentinel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Margate man is facing charges of murder and attempted murder after a double shooting in Pompano Beach on Friday, the Broward sheriff\u2019s office announced.<\/p>\n<p>According to detectives, the victims, Robert Vaughn and another man, were gambling in the front yard of a home in the <a href=\"http:\/\/1500 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue\" rel=\"nofollow\">1500 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue<\/a> at about 11:53 p.m. An argument over gambling began with Rau Lee Davis Jr., 50, who detectives say fired shots that hit Vaughn and the other man.<\/p>\n<p>Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced 46-year-old Vaughn, a resident of Fort Lauderdale, dead. The other man received medical treatment for his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Davis left the scene of the shooting but later came back.
