TAMPA BAY (WLUK) — The heat and humidity definitely lived up to the calling at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday with the Packers moving to 2-2 on the season with the 17-14 win over the Buccaneers. The defense certainly recovered after that ugly loss to the Falcons on Thursday Night Football, holding undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels to under a 50 percent passer rating.<\/p>\n
The offensive line was vastly improved posting a season best 53 percent Win Pass Block Rate according to ESPN analytics. They had a win rate of just 16 percent through the first three weeks. With the addition of Lake Tomlinson at left guard and slotting in Travis Glover at the right guard, Jordan Love was only hit twice, and Tampa Bay didn’t record a sack.<\/p>\n
According to Pro Football Focus, the offensive line let up just five pressures, three of them were Jordan Morgan while Travis Glover and Sean Rhyan had one.<\/p>\n
“There were some positives and we did some things well. We kept him (Love) clean for the best part but there were a lot of things we have to clean up. It felt like we were in 1st and 20 for quite a bit and that’s not winning football,” Matt LaFleur said<\/p>\n
“It’s every week to keep J up. We want to be efficient on offense and that’s the challenge every week,” Tomlinson said.<\/p>\n
“If you give people confidence, it allows them to play free. I told them that I was going to make the call man and we’re going to go and LT were kind of talking about being able to play free and play fast and that’s what we did,” Sean Rhyan said.<\/p>\n
Evan Williams had a monster game, seven tackles, an interception, a sack, a tackle for loss, 2 QB hits and two defended passes.<\/p>\n
“He (Jonathan Gannon) always preaches players not plays in the biggest situations and for him to call my number in that situation means a lot to me to understand that and that type of coach has trust in you in those big situations when you have to make a play and you’re the number that he called means everything,” Williams said.<\/p>\n
“He’s a special player bro. Those plays we expect Evan to make.
