(WFLA) \u2014 A Tampa man was arrested early Monday morning after neighbors called police with concerns about two dogs locked in a car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office responded to an apartment complex at around 2 a.m. on Oct. 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A neighbor called after seeing the dogs in distress and getting worried about how long they&#8217;d been in there.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/https:\/\/media.zenfs.com\/en\/wfla_article_174\/d8e74b5bfcff97bea69d3e9636691801.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Hillsborough County Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">HCSO said deputies learned the dogs were first seen inside the car at 3 p.m. on Sunday, roughly 11 hours before police were called.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">About an hour after deputies arrived, 67-year-old Kenneth Warren came outside and confirmed it was his car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He was arrested and charged with two counts of cruelty to animals, HCSO said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Leaving these dogs locked in a hot car for hours wasn&#8217;t a lapse in judgment; it was gross negligence,&#8221; Sheriff Chad Chronister said. &#8220;Our Florida weather can turn a vehicle into a death trap quickly, and we are grateful for the neighbor who called us to help these defenseless animals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
