{"id":420225,"date":"2026-10-06T13:50:17","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/420225\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T13:50:17","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:50:17","slug":"underground-electrical-fire-closes-roads-courthouse-in-downtown-tallahassee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/420225\/","title":{"rendered":"Underground electrical fire closes roads, courthouse in downtown Tallahassee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DOWNTOWN TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) \u2014 The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) said road damage from an underground electrical fire is expected to cause road closures throughout the day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>TPD said there will be a planned electric service outage in the downtown area to allow crews to repair the damage.<\/p>\n<p>Officials anticipate road closures in the area will remain throughout the day, including on Monroe Street between Park Avenue and Apalachee Parkway, as well as adjacent roads.<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1791294617_612_.jpeg\" alt=\"Underground electrical fire closes roads, courthouse in downtown Tallahassee\"  width=\"1080\" height=\"1440\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Tallahassee Police Department<\/p>\n<p>TPD said the outage will impact traffic signals and area buildings and asked the public to continue to avoid the area if possible.<\/p>\n<p>The Leon County Sheriff&#8217;s Office released this road closure perimeter:<\/p>\n<p>Current Road Closure Perimeters are:<br \/>South: S. Monroe\/FAMU Way<br \/>West: Gaines St\/S. Adams<br \/>East: Apalachee Pkwy\/Franklin Blvd<br \/>North: Calhoun and N. Monroe St\/ College Ave<\/p>\n<p>The Leon County Courthouse and Leon County Annex are closed today due to ongoing public safety response near the Courthouse, according to Leon County officials.<\/p>\n<p>Visitation at the Leon County Detention Facility was also closed due to the issue. The sheriff&#8217;s office says phone lines there are currently unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For the safety of others, Leon County asks the public to not report to the Leon County Courthouse or Leon County Annex (315 S. Calhoun St.) until further notice,&#8221; said the county in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>Want to see more local news?
