A man died after he experienced a medical emergency while operating an electric scooter on South Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, according to a police report.<\/p>\n
St. Lucie County Fire District crews responded to a report of an e-scooter crash about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 to the 400 block of Seaway Drive, which is near the St. Lucie Aquarium and the South Causeway Bridge, according to the police report.<\/p>\n
Crews took the man operating the e-scooter to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce after he experienced a medical emergency, according to the report, and he was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation didn’t find any evidence indicating another vehicle was involved in the crash, according to the report. The circumstances surrounding the crash remained under investigation as of Sept. 30.<\/p>\n
Fort Pierce police officials were notified about the fatal e-scooter crash on Sept. 30 because they didn’t receive the initial call from the area, according to the report. The man’s name, age and city of residence was not available.<\/p>\n
