Former St. Petersburg Mayors Bill Foster and Rick Baker are endorsing Trevor Mallory for City Council. Mallory now has the backing of the city’s three most recent former Mayors. Former Mayor Rick Kriseman had already backed Mallory.

Foster, who served one term as Mayor from 2010 through 2014, highlighted Mallory’s connections to the city and his approach to governing.

“Governing requires listening to the people of the city and prioritizing their needs. Trevor is someone who already has that attitude,” Foster said in a news release. “He has the right experience, the right work ethic, and, most importantly, he has the right kind of love for St. Pete. I’ll be voting for Trevor Mallory for City Council in November.”

Baker, who served as Mayor from 2001 through 2010, highlighted Mallory’s focus on quality of life, affordability, public safety and economic opportunity.

“Trevor is focused on the issues our city’s residents care about: quality of life, affordability, safety, and creating an environment of opportunity. I support him and I hope you will too,” Baker said.

The latest endorsements add to Mallory’s growing list of local supporters since the Primary.

He’s already earned support from term-limited District 6 Council Member Gina Driscoll, whose seat he is seeking, as well as from former Council members Karl Nurse, Frank Peterman, Ed Montanari, Jim Kennedy and Charlie Gerdes.

Mallory has also secured endorsements from all three candidates eliminated in the August Primary. Terri Balliet joined Jameka Williams and Doug Homeyer in backing Mallory late last month. None of the defeated candidates in the race have backed Linsey Grove, who Mallory faces in the Nov. 3 General Election runoff.

Mallory’s other supporters include Sen. Darryl Rouson, Representative-elect Kyandra Darling, Rep. Daryl Campbell, former Rep. Ben Diamond and the Sun Coast Police Benevolent Association, among others.

Grove finished first in the August Primary with 1,902 votes, while Mallory advanced in second with 1,517.

Unlike the Primary, which was limited to District 6 voters, the General Election will be decided by voters citywide.

Former St. Petersburg Mayors Bill Foster and Rick Baker are endorsing Trevor Mallory for City Council.
