Something relaxing is in the forecast for Phil Ferro.<\/p>\n
The longtime chief meteorologist at WSVN is retiring, he announced on X and LinkedIn.<\/p>\n

The Mississippi State grad, 61, has definitely done his share of watching, waiting and warning us about countless, serious weather events.<\/p>\n His employer notes in his online bio<\/a> that Ferro joined Channel 7 News in 2005, \u201ckeeping us calm and guiding us through …. 24 hours a day. You can count on Phil and his team to keep you informed of any threat especially during hurricane season.\u201d<\/p>\n The WSVN bio adds that a career highlight came for Ferro in 1999 before his stint there. The intrepid weatherman took part in a history-making hurricane-hunter mission to fly into \u201cWrong Way Lenny,\u201d<\/a> named for its most unusual track.
