<\/p>\nSALT LAKE CITY \u2014 A Utah mother and grandmother is in critical condition at a Florida hospital after a devastating head-on collision. Her family is now holding onto hope and praying for a miracle.<\/p>\n
Tamra Kendrick, 61, a mother of 8, was in Florida to babysit four of her grandchildren while her son and daughter-in-law took a short getaway. Early Friday morning, Tamra\u2019s vehicle collided head-on with a Ford F-350 near Fort Walton Beach, leaving her with life-threatening injuries. None of the children were in the Tesla she was driving.<\/p>\n

Cell phone video captured emotional moments from her hospital room, with loved ones offering words of encouragement as Tamra slowly tried to open her eyes.<\/p>\n
\u201cHi Momma, Hi. You are going to be just fine. We love you. I love you. You just rest, okay? Relax. I\u2019m right here,\u201d family members can be heard saying in the video.<\/p>\n
With emotion, her son, Bryce Kendrick, described the terrifying experience of seeing his mother in such a fragile state.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was touch and go watching her just lay there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bryce also expressed deep guilt over the timing of the accident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first thing that I had was a lot of guilt because she was out here, just because I asked her to come out. If I wouldn\u2019t have left, it never would have happened, kind of guilt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, several strangers \u2014 including military airmen \u2014 rushed to help Tamra at the scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they hadn\u2019t thrown a tourniquet on Mom, she wouldn\u2019t be here,\u201d Bryce said.<\/p>\n
Tamra suffered multiple broken bones, internal injuries and a shattered left leg that had to be amputated above the knee.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe doctors compared it to stepping on an IED, like a combat wound,\u201d Bryce said.<\/p>\n
Tragically, this is not the first time the Kendrick family has faced such trauma. Just 18 months ago, Tamra\u2019s daughter BreeAnn was also involved in a horrific head-on crash in Idaho.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s kind of round two for our family,\u201d said Brandon Kendrick, another son. \u201cIt\u2019s been tough to see your little sister go through it, and now your mom, who\u2019s getting older, go through the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the pain, the family said they\u2019ve felt the power of love, support, and prayer.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve felt the miracles. We\u2019ve felt God\u2019s hand in this terrible time. And we\u2019re just grateful she\u2019s alive,\u201d Brandon said.<\/p>\n
Tamra\u2019s daughter BreeAnn is still recovering from her own accident and is scheduled for another surgery this Thursday.<\/p>\n
