{"id":421175,"date":"2026-10-07T13:26:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T13:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/421175\/"},"modified":"2026-10-07T13:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T13:26:09","slug":"officials-seize-2-8m-in-fuel-destined-for-cuba-in-sanctions-evasion-scheme-nbc-6-south-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/421175\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials seize $2.8M in fuel destined for Cuba in \u2018sanctions-evasion scheme\u2019 \u2013 NBC 6 South Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Federal officials seized fuel shipments valued at $2.8 million that were suspected of being &#8220;unlawfully exported to Cuba,&#8221; they said in a news release. <\/p>\n<p>Officials said they intercepted 90 shipments of biodiesel-blended middle\u00a0distillate bound for a &#8220;sanctioned Cuban entity&#8221; as part of a scheme to evade sanctions. <\/p>\n<p>Agencies involved in the seizure include Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Department of Commerce\u2019s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). <\/p>\n<p>Authorities are expected to discuss the seizure in a news conference at 9:30 a.m. at the Homeland Security Investigations Miami field office. <\/p>\n<p>On Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.uscg.mil\/Press-Releases\/Article\/4616594\/coast-guard-intercepts-motor-vessel-grace-continues-operations-to-interdict-ill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the U.S. Coast Guard announced<\/a> it had interdicted a vessel trafficking fuel to Cuba.
