On Tuesday, a restraining order was approved against Central Florida Congressman Cory Mills, who was accused earlier this year of threatening his former girlfriend.<\/p>\n

Mills, who represents parts of Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Flagler counties, was accused of cyberstalking Lindsey Langston, his ex-girlfriend and reigning Miss United States, as well as a Columbia County Republican state committeewoman.<\/p>\n

Court records show the couple began dating in 2021 and lived together in Mills\u2019 New Smyrna Beach home. Langston said she left Mills after news surfaced that another woman living in Mills\u2019 Washington, D.C., home accused him of assault. That woman later withdrew her accusation.<\/p>\n

Since their breakup, Langston claimed Mills has threatened to release nude images and videos of her, including recordings of them engaging in sexual acts.<\/p>\n

But during a court hearing last month, Mills said the messages he sent to Langston were misconstrued, instead saying that he was simply trying to \u201cunwind\u201d their relationship that was coming to an end.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you\u2019re seeing here is break-ups are difficult,\u201d Mills told News 6 last month<\/a>. \u201cThe idea that if she\u2019s at risk or there\u2019s a threat that\u2019s being made, you would go to the cops.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Langston told a much different story.<\/p>\n

\u201cI panicked. I immediately knew what videos he was referencing,\u201d Langston said earlier this month. \u201cAnd I was beginning to panic because that could ruin my reputation. You know, I felt comfortable. This was somebody that I was in a relationship with for going on three years – three, four years at this point. There were talks of us getting married, I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with this person. I never anticipated them using that against me.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the judge sided with Langston, issuing an injunction against Mills.<\/p>\n

That injunction prohibits Mills from committing violence or having contact with Langston. <\/p>\n

In addition, the judge ordered that Mills not make references to Langston on social media.<\/p>\n
