TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Due to an \u201cunderground electrical fire\u201d in downtown Tallahassee<\/a>, several facilities and streets were closed Tuesday, according to officials.<\/p>\n

The incident, which transpired around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, also impacted some county services. <\/p>\n

Below is a list of those impacted roads, businesses and any changes to services.<\/p>\n

Some services were restored the following day, according to a Wednesday statement from county officials. <\/p>\n

Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long said the Office of Information and Technology and City of Tallahassee Utilities worked together overnight to restore services. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur teams are checking systems today, and we are working closely with the courts and our constitutional officers as they return to normal operations. I appreciate the dedication of our employees and partners, and the public\u2019s patience throughout this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

ROAD CLOSURES<\/p>\n

Road closure perimeters included West Gaines Street\/South Adams, East Apalachee Parkway\/Franklin Boulevard, as well as North Calhoun, according to the Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

FACILITY CLOSURES<\/p>\n

According to the Leon County Government:<\/p>\n

Leon County CourthouseLeon County Annex<\/p>\n

The two facilities were closed Tuesday but were reopened Wednesday.<\/p>\n

In-person visitation at the Leon County Detention Facility has resumed as of Wednesday morning. Phone services at the sheriff\u2019s office have \u201clargely been restored,\u201d per the county statement.<\/p>\n

The Leon County Property Appraiser Office closed Tuesday but opened at noon Wednesday. <\/p>\n

SERVICE UPDATES<\/p>\n

According to the Second Judicial Circuit Court, \u201call court proceedings in the Second Judicial Circuit\u201d were canceled Tuesday, effective immediately. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe State Attorney and Public Defender do not have access to the information they need to conduct proceedings,\u201d Chief Judge Frank Allman said. \u201cThere\u2019s just no point in trying to go forward with anything until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The courts are still closed Wednesday, per a State Attorney\u2019s Office social post Tuesday evening. Officials said decisions on the court\u2019s future opening is expected Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Leon County\u2019s phone lines are back in service as of Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

According to county officials, text-to-911 was temporarily offline, so anyone with emergencies was asked to call 911. \u201cResidents who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who a speech disability, can reach 911 by TTY,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, officials said some county phone lines beginning with 606, including the Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office, may have intermittent service. <\/p>\n

According to the Tallahassee-Leon County Consolidated Dispatch Agency, a temporary disruption affected its non-emergency phone lines. For non-emergency matters, call 850-891-4200.<\/p>\n
