(CBS12) \u2014 The Hope Florida investigation resulted in a win for Florida Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/DeSantis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> and Attorney General James Uthmeier.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, a Florida appeals court ordered the grand jury report to be expunged in its entirety, rejecting the idea that $10 million was misappropriated.<\/p>\n<p>This stems from a Leon County grand jury investigation into a 2024 settlement between the state and Medicaid provider Centene. Under that agreement, Centene paid $57 million to Florida and separately contributed $10 million to the Hope Florida Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The grand jury report \u2014 which was completed in January \u2014 described the money\u2019s path as a scheme to fund politics, arguing that the $10 million had been misappropriated.<\/p>\n<p>See also: <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/faulty-taillight-stop-of-u-haul-leads-deputies-to-stolen-e-bike-pot-and-paraphernalia-florida-news-florida-crime-u-haul-faulty-taillight-hillsborough-county-sheriffs-office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Faulty taillight stop of U-Haul leads deputies to stolen e-bike, pot and paraphernalia<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Judges found that the grand jury\u2019s reasoning did not hold up and found that the $10 million had been paid directly to Hope Florida rather than being diverted from state funds.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling is a victory for DeSantis and Florida Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myfloridalegal.com\/ag-bio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">James Uthmeier<\/a>. DeSantis issued a statement on the ruling on his X account on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother hoax bites the dust! The 1st DCA has written the most thorough judicial beat down of anything I\u2019ve ever seen re: the 2024 AHCA pre-suit settlement with Centene. Botton line = no misappropriation by AHCA as a matter of law (Which was obvious to anyone with half a brain or not blinded by a political agenda). The Court ordered the complete and total expungement of the illegally leaked Tallahassee grand jury report.
