PIE’s director announced Thursday that the airport is welcoming Ethan Croop as the new deputy director.<\/p>\n

CLEARWATER, Fla. \u2014 St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE) has signed a new contract with Allegiant Airlines and named a new deputy director Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Airport Director Mark Sprague announced that PIE signed a new five-year contract with Allegiant, which offers nonstop flights to 65 destinations across the country and another coming soon.<\/p>\n

PIE is one of Allegiant’s largest operating bases, with the airline serving more than 60 nonstop destinations from the airport. The addition of Boston further expands travel options for passengers across the Tampa Bay region.<\/p>\n

Allegiant will celebrate its 20th anniversary with PIE on Nov. 16. In 2006, the airline announced 12 nonstop routes at the airport. Now, with Allegiant’s merger with Sun Country Airlines, there will soon be 66 destinations, including seasonal service to Boston, Mass.<\/a><\/p>\n

PIE is also planning the construction of a new parking garage in early 2027, expected to be completed in spring 2028.<\/p>\n

The airport is also beginning the design process for its Terminal Improvements Project, which Sprague says will include roughly 40,000 square feet of new space and four new jet bridges. Sprague says the project will “focus on modernizing our existing terminal and improving infrastructure to better serve our passengers and airlines.”<\/p>\n

Additionally, the airport is welcoming a new deputy director of operations and facilities, Ethan Croop. In his announcement, Sprague said that he had been serving as both the airport director and deputy director. Croop will be joining the team in early November.<\/p>\n

“It is a privilege to lead this airport, and I look forward to working alongside such an exceptionally qualified new team member,” Sprague said.<\/p>\n
