Broward County has stepped up mosquito control operations in Weston, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines and Miramar in response to unusually high mosquito activity.

The enhanced treatments include daytime operations and nighttime spraying, which typically takes place between midnight and 6 a.m., weather permitting. Broward County Mosquito Control expects the operations to continue for the next week or until mosquito numbers decline.

The affected areas include portions of County Commission Districts 1, 5 and 7, represented by Commissioners Nan Rich, Steve Geller and Alexandra P. Davis, respectively.

The county’s Mosquito Control Section is working with the Florida Department of Health and code enforcement agencies across Broward’s 31 municipalities to reduce mosquito populations and breeding habitats.

Residents and business owners are being urged to inspect their properties regularly and remove standing water from buckets, tires, planters, birdbaths and fountains.

Reducing standing water can limit mosquito breeding and help decrease the population of adult mosquitoes that may transmit diseases.

Broward County has stepped up mosquito control operations in Weston, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines and Miramar in response…

[17
249,251,250
post-422851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale-headlines","tag-fort-lauderdale-news
["GET
