He converted on a wrist shot from the point that got past Wallstedt with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/gage-goncalves-8482201\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gage Goncalves<\/a>\u00a0providing a netfront screen.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I kind of got lucky, it was a good screen,&#8221; Carlson said, &#8220;It was a goalie-didn&#8217;t-see-it kind of goal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hughes cut it to 2-1 at 2:32 of the second period, scoring on a shot from the center point that got through traffic and past Hildeby.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard when they get two quick ones and you&#8217;re just fighting from behind right away,&#8221; Wallstedt said. &#8220;In the second, we were starting to look better and got some pucks to the net. I thought, overall, we had some looks to tie it. Not maybe our best start, but something to build off of.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Carlson\u2019s power-play goal, a one-timer from the high slot off a pass from\u00a0Kucherov, made it 3-1 at 4:55. It was the Lightning&#8217;s first goal of the season with the man-advantage after they had gone 0-for-13 in their first three games.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a good play by \u2018Kuch\u2019 of looking people off,&#8221; Carlson said. &#8220;We always talk about flipping coverages and find holes and sneak into spots.
