(WITN) &#8211; The City of Jacksonville honored the sacrifice this morning of a MARSOC Marine who died while training in Florida recently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Marine Corps Captain Garrett Pearson died in an accident on October 3.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Pearson, 30, died during a military training exercise in South Florida.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/IFMLAZMXJFEKJFWWAIXM4OPLB4.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"653\" \/>Pearson, 30, died during a military training exercise in South Florida.(VCU)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">He was training with Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command off the coast of South Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Freedom Fountain will be put into mourning status for 3 days. That means the central jet, known as the Freedom jet, will be the only one active.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/honoring-garrett-pearson-loved-husband-and-father\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/honoring-garrett-pearson-loved-husband-and-father\">GoFundMe<\/a> that\u2019s been established, Pearson leaves behind his wife, Autumn, and two daughters, Maisie and Hazel.
