There\u2019s nothing worse than when the supermarket conveniently located around the corner of your home shuts down, and for some in the Sunshine State, those familiar storefronts are quietly closing their doors.<\/p>\n

One grocery store chain is in the midst of a major footprint restructuring \u2014 Winn-Dixie. While its parent company, formerly Southeastern Grocers, announced in late 2025 that it was shifting its focus primarily to the home state of Florida, the company has quietly shuttered underperforming stores this year.<\/p>\n

According to Inc.<\/a>, 27 locations across the South have been affected. Joining Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana, these are the Florida locations that have recently closed or are slated to close this year, according to the publication:<\/p>\n

The Miami location at the Bird Ludlam Shopping Center (6770 Bird Rd) closed in August and is set to convert into an Aldi, so shoppers won\u2019t be feeling the void of a vacant storefront for too long. However, the transition marks the end of an era for the neighborhood as the store had been a staple on that corner for 66 years.<\/p>\n

As for the Palm Beach Gardens on Military Trail and Northlake Boulevard, Winn-Dixie spokeswoman Meredith Hurley told WFLX FOX 29<\/a> in a statement, \u201cWith a strengthened focus on Florida, we know that meaningful transformation sometimes requires difficult decisions. In certain cases, this can mean closing a store when it\u2019s necessary to support the future success of our company.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur priority remains on building a strong future for our company and to provide the high level of quality and service our customers expect and deserve. We appreciate the support of our associates, customers and the Palm Beach Gardens community,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n
