(WPEC) \u2014 Hurricane Isaias has made landfall near Destin, Florida as a Category 2 storm with 105 mile per hour winds at 9:30 p.m. EDT.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Isaias makes landfall at 9:30 p.m. Friday night near Destin, Florida. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<p>Isaias is the first hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Hurricane Milton back in October of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>What happens after landfall?<\/p>\n<p>Isaias will quickly move through inland areas of the Florida panhandle and southern Alabama while maintaining hurricane status.<\/p>\n<p>Isaias currently has begun its weakening trend as of 11:00 p.m. Friday night with winds of 90 miles per hour and a high-end Category 1 storm.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Isaias has now weakened into a Category 1 hurricane as it moves inland. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<p>Overnight Friday into Saturday morning, Isaias will eventually weaken back into a tropical storm, and eventually a tropical depression into central Alabama.<\/p>\n<p>Even as the hurricane weakens, heavy rain, gusty winds and isolated tornadoes will remain possible well inland across parts of the Southeast.<\/p>\n<p>Hurricane and Tropical Storm warnings remain in place across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, along with an active Tornado Watch on the east side of the storm, as well as numerous Flood Watches and High Wind Warnings.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Impacts will be felt much farther inland than just where Isaias makes landfall. (WPEC)<\/p>\n<p>Indirect impacts continue in South Florida<\/p>\n<p>The Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast are not expecting direct tropical storm conditions from Isaias. <\/p>\n<p>However, the storm is helping produce breezy southeast winds, rougher surf and a heightened rip-current danger along the Atlantic coast through the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Winds 10-20 miles per hour will be present Saturday, with gusts higher closer to the coast.
