The talks, initially expected to last two days, reportedly wrapped up after a six-hour session on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Witkoff did not clarify whether the delegations would meet again Saturday as originally planned.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Raufoglu, a Radio Free Europe\/Radio Liberty correspondent in Washington, later <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ralexdc\/status\/2108676304954405253\" rel=\"nofollow\">noted<\/a> that the talks between Ukraine, Europe, and the US in Miami had ended early.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiami talks concluded sooner than planned. \u201cNo second day,\u201d sources tell me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SEPeaceMissions\/status\/2108667192904671508\" rel=\"nofollow\">In a post on X<\/a>, Witkoff said the meeting explored \u201cpotential avenues to de-escalate and conclude the war with Russia ahead of winter and advance efforts toward a durable and lasting peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the exchange identified issues requiring further discussion before Washington\u2019s next contacts with Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>The participants included representatives of the E3 \u2013 Britain, France and Germany \u2013 as well as the European Commission, NATO and Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p> Trump strikes diesel deal with Putin as peace talks unfold <\/p>\n<p>On the same day, Trump announced an agreement with Putin to boost Russian diesel supplies to US and global markets, temporarily easing economic pressure on Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Following a telephone conversation with Putin, Trump said Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel, with another 500,000 tons to follow in November.<\/p>\n<p>The US Treasury Department subsequently issued a temporary license permitting transactions involving Russian diesel.<\/p>\n<p>Trump defended the move as an effort to lower soaring fuel prices, which have been driven largely by disruptions linked to the US-Israeli war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement drew immediate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kyivpost.com\/post\/86648\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">criticism<\/a> from President Volodymyr Zelensky, who questioned the timing of Washington\u2019s separate dealings with Moscow while his representatives were participating in peace negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Republican and Democratic lawmakers also warned that allowing additional Russian energy exports could provide fresh revenue for Putin\u2019s war.<\/p>\n<p>The Miami meeting followed visits to Moscow and Kyiv last month by Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump\u2019s son-in-law, as US negotiators worked on new proposals to break the diplomatic deadlock.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"[UPDATED: Oct. 10, 9:45 am , Kyiv time.
