Fetisov is\u00a0on\u00a0trial for alleged military \u201cfakes\u201d and for calls to\u00a0engage in\u00a0activity against state security (Clause \u201cd\u201d of\u00a0Part 2, Article 207.3 of\u00a0the Criminal Code, Clause \u201cv\u201d of\u00a0Part 2, Article 280.4 of\u00a0the Criminal Code).<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0Fetisov, on\u00a01 September, a\u00a0remand centre officer named Nikolai beat him in\u00a0his cell: kneeing him in\u00a0the stomach, hitting his head with his hands, twisting his arms behind his back, and using painful holds. Fetisov claims that as\u00a0a\u00a0result he\u00a0lost consciousness, later developed bruising around his eyes, and experienced short-term memory loss.<\/p>\n<p>Fetisov said that, before the assault, he\u00a0had been speaking in\u00a0his cell with the on-duty medic about his severe anaemia. According to\u00a0Fetisov, his haemoglobin level was\u00a074. The prosecutor stated that Fetisov\u2019s claims should be\u00a0checked, and the court ordered that the materials be\u00a0sent to\u00a0the Investigative Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Fetisov\u2019s case is\u00a0connected with his publication of\u00a0a\u00a0video explaining how to\u00a0surrender as\u00a0a\u00a0prisoner of\u00a0war, as\u00a0well as\u00a0comments on\u00a0VKontakte in\u00a0which he\u00a0criticised the actions of\u00a0Russian military personnel and wrote about the torture of\u00a0a\u00a0Ukrainian prisoner of\u00a0war. Fetisov denies the charges.<\/p>\n<p>Mikhail Fetisov worked as\u00a0a\u00a0neurologist in\u00a0a\u00a0St\u00a0Petersburg hospital. After a\u00a0severe case of\u00a0COVID-19 that left him on\u00a0a\u00a0ventilator for a\u00a0month, he\u00a0was granted third-degree disability status. In\u00a0summer 2024, Fetisov\u2019s flat was searched\u2014which, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/zona.media\/news\/2026\/03\/30\/fetisov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mediazona reported<\/a>, led him to\u00a0resign from the hospital on\u00a0health grounds. He\u00a0was out of\u00a0work for about a\u00a0year before finding a\u00a0job as\u00a0a\u00a0watchman at\u00a0a\u00a0kindergarten.
