TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Hurricane Isaias brought down trees and power lines across Tallahassee, leaving thousands of customers without power overnight.<\/p>\n
Crews with the City of Tallahassee worked overnight and into Saturday to restore electricity following the storm.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were out here working on everything,\u201d said Tallahassee resident Carl Whittington. \u201cIt was a great response.\u201d<\/p>\n
Whittington lives in the Indianhead Acres neighborhood. He said, during the storm Friday, strong wind gusts sent tree limbs crashing onto homes and his deck.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere were some good gusts. I was out on the deck at one point with my dog, and a gust came in, and I started hearing limbs falling on houses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The storm brought back memories of the tornadoes that struck the neighborhood in 2024. Whittington said it took two years to repair his home after the damage. \u201cI\u2019m relieved I don\u2019t have to go through that again, but I feel bad that other people have to go through it to the west of here now,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

More than 37,000 City of Tallahassee electric customers lost power during the storm, according to a city spokesperson.<\/p>\n
A fallen pine tree brought down power lines along Semalachee Drive in Whittington\u2019s neighborhood, where crews worked to restore service.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had some lines that were broken, so we had to put them back together, get them back in the air, and refuse it,\u201d said George Peddie, a foreman with the City of Tallahassee Electric Department.<\/p>\n
Peddie said crews worked 16-hour shifts alongside tree crews and other city departments to restore power across the city.<\/p>\n
Although power restoration efforts continued Saturday, Peddie warned that saturated ground and rain-heavy tree limbs could create additional hazards.<\/p>\n
Officials urge residents to stay away from downed power lines and contact their utility company if they see one.<\/p>\n
