{"id":424411,"date":"2026-10-10T20:16:26","date_gmt":"2026-10-10T20:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/424411\/"},"modified":"2026-10-10T20:16:26","modified_gmt":"2026-10-10T20:16:26","slug":"orlando-man-charged-with-attacking-victim-with-a-hammer-at-jonesville-park-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/424411\/","title":{"rendered":"Orlando man charged with attacking victim with a hammer at Jonesville Park in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Sebastian-Danel-Fernandez-Matayoshi-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Sebastian-Danel-Fernandez-Matayoshi-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-109915\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staff report<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JONESVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Sebastian Danel Fernandez-Matayoshi, 24, of Orlando, has been charged with aggravated battery and burglary with battery after allegedly hitting a victim with a hammer at Jonesville Park in August; he is also facing charges from a January 2024 burglary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An Alachua County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy reported that the male victim had gone to a bar earlier in the night with a woman, the victim and Fernandez-Matayoshi argued over the woman, and the woman left with Fernandez-Matayoshi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At about 4 a.m. on August 8, the woman met up with the victim at Jonesville Park (14100 NW 32nd Avenue) after texting the victim that she wanted to get her drugs (cocaine) from the car, and the victim and woman were sitting in the victim\u2019s car when Fernandez-Matayoshi allegedly approached the car and tried to hit the victim with a hammer. The victim got out of the vehicle, and Fernandez-Matayoshi allegedly hit him several more times; Fernandez-Matayoshi and the woman then left the park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deputy reported that the victim had a laceration that required two stitches and a second laceration that required a bandage. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fernandez-Matayoshi has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and burglary with battery. He has no criminal convictions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fernandez-Matayoshi was previously arrested in early September for a January 2024 incident in which he allegedly entered the apartment and then the bedroom of a woman who had told him he was no longer welcome in her apartment because he had pushed her to the ground earlier in the evening. He posted $15,000 bond and was released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A warrant for the August incident was issued about two weeks later, and Fernandez-Matayoshi was arrested on September 28; he told Court Services he is a student at the University of Central Florida who had only been in Alachua County for one day. He was initially held without bail, but on October 7, Judge Denise Ferrero denied a motion from the State Attorney\u2019s Office to hold him without bail and set bail at $100,000; he was released yesterday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies.
