PORT CHARLOTTE \u2014 Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a death at a county pool.<\/p>\n
Charlotte County Fire & EMS units were sent to the Centennial Park Pool in Port Charlotte at 12:37 p.m., Friday. The call was dispatched as a medical emergency.<\/p>\n
Fire & EMS crews arrived on scene and provided emergency medical care, officials said.<\/p>\n
Deputies also arrived, and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation.<\/p>\n
The CCSO did not release any information over the weekend about the siutation, except to confirm the investigation.<\/p>\n
CCSO Sgt. Richard Kaufman Jr. said there is no danger to anyone else.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Charlotte County officials announced Friday that the pool, at 1120 Centennial Blvd., Port Charlotte, was closed, then updated the announcement to say the pool would remain closed on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The pool was reopened Sunday.<\/p>\n
