PETERSBURG, Fla. \u00a0\u2014 The good news is there\u2019s no waiting around.<\/p>\n<p>The Rays get to go right back out on the field Tuesday night to right its Game 1 loss wrongs.<\/p>\n<p>For five-plus innings Monday night, Tampa Bay was in complete control again.<\/p>\n<p>Then they unraveled in a hurry.<\/p>\n<p>Drew Rasmussen squandered a two-run lead on the mound, Tampa Bay\u2019s bullpen let the game get away and <a href=\"https:\/\/baynews9.com\/fl\/tampa\/sports\/2026\/10\/13\/tampa-bay-rays--cleveland-guardians--alcs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Rays stumbled to a 7-3 loss against the Cleveland Guardians in their American League Championship Series opener.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a stunning meltdown at Tropicana Field for the Rays, who matched Milwaukee for the best home record in the majors during the regular season.<\/p>\n<p>Cue up Game 2.<\/p>\n<p>The Rays will have Freddy Peralta on the mound while Cleveland counters with Parker Messick.<\/p>\n<p>Peralta is 5-0 with an 0.93 ERA over his last seven starts, which dates back to Aug. 26.<\/p>\n<p>Messick, who is from Plant City, allowed one run on six hits with six strikeouts over 7 2\/3 innings at Tropicana Field on July 26.<\/p>\n<p>First pitch at Tropicana Field is at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
