I am hearing the same message from the residents that there needs to be a change. Most issues they mention are consistent for the reasons that I have chosen to run. If the town keeps on this current path, it will not be good in the future.

The town risks losing the culture and personality that attracted its residents in the first place.

List in order of importance the three most important issues in the city and briefly explain what you would do about each.
Responsible development- Many developments have come into our town, rezoned and develop properties that do not meet the personality or culturally charm Davie has to offer. They are working for themselves and not with the town. The town has also not held them responsible or worked with them. The current council is not knowledgeable on the data that developers provide regarding traffic and utilities. They just keep moving forward approving the project and has become complacent

Safer Streets- There have been multiple accidents throughout the city, with one corridor alone experiencing more than 355 accidents over the past five years, yet no significant improvements have been made. There is also infrastructure lacking with no safe and reliable way for students to travel to and from local schools. Numerous safety enhancements are needed to improve these conditions, but little to no action has been taken. These ongoing issues raise serious concerns about the safety of residents, students, and everyone who travels through these areas.

Preserve Davie- Davie has lost significant farms and horse facilities within the past few years. Yet we still have a horse on our logo but can’t find one anywhere in Davie. These properties are now condos and dense communities that do not have room for one. Being a lifelog resident, I want to preserve the Davie I knew and grew up with.

Do you support or oppose Amendment 3, and why?
I support Amendment 3. Due to the increase of property values and increase of property taxes throughout the state, this will give some relief to homestead residents. This will also help elderly residents who may not have budgeted some high increases of property taxes. The savings need to go back to the residents. This will give them an opportunity to invest or spend the funds how they please. I believe this was the reason homestead was implemented in the first place. Homestead property owners will need to be protected from rising costs.

If you are elected and Amendment 3 passes, you will have to reduce services or raise other fees. Can you cite a specific city program or service that is wasteful or unnecessary?
We cannot assume that reduction of services or raising fees is the step to take. I don’t think you have to do either. The town is fiscally responsible and has budgeted correctly. The Town of Davie has budgeted with a lower budget in the past years and have managed correctly. Adjustments will have to be made. I will ensure services will not be reduced and fees will not be raised. We also must remember that there are a number of non-homestead properties within our district. The Town of Davie does not have a wasteful or unnecessary city program or service.

How would you assess your city’s ability to manage growth, development and related issues such as traffic, noise, pollution and demands on city infrastructure?
Currently, the town is not managing growth correctly. They have not provided the infrastructure needed or budgeted to support it. Traffic has grown and the roads and traffic lights cannot support it at peak times. Noise and pollution have gone up in the denser residential areas of the city.

What single factor most distinguishes you from your opponent and why?
As a civil engineer, I have planned, designed, constructed and managed multiple large public infrastructure projects. I managed roadway widening projects, safer streets including roundabouts/bike lanes and enhanced school safety. I managed stormwater projects and held developers accountable to provide the best project for the residents. I am familiar with the budgeting process and gaining public support on projects. I am familiar with all the efforts that go into these projects. I feel that developers are working for themselves and not working with us the town. This has caused a lot of unhappy residents, and I am hearing the same message from most of them.

List in reverse chronological order colleges or universities attended with years of attendance and degrees.
Florida International University 08/2006-04/2009

Bachelors of Science Civil Engineering

University of Central Florida 08/2001-12/2005

List in reverse chronological order your work history for the past 15 years.
Broward County Aviation Department(11/2025-current)-Construction Project Manager

City of Hollywood(11/2024-10/2025)-Development Review Engineering Manager

City of Parkland(03/2022-11/2024)-City Engineer

Florida Department of Transportation(08/2010-12/2021)-Roadway Traffic Engineer, Safe Streets Coordinator, Consultant Manger, Railroad Engineer

Have you ever been a party to a lawsuit, including bankruptcy or foreclosure? If so, provide charges, dates and terms of sentence.
No

Why should voters elect you instead of your opponent(s)?
As I mentioned before, the experience I have managing public infrastructure projects is an advantage. I know how to manage projects, budget for them as well as see unforeseen conditions that may happen during the projects life cycle. I will be the final quality control quality assurance (QA/QC) before any project gets approved by council. I am also a longtime Davie resident currently living in my childhood home. My two young children are part of the Davie Sharks soccer club which helps me get more involved in the community meeting residents. My best interest is with the residents of the Town of Davie and not developers. I listen to residents, coordinate with all parties involved, and develop an efficient plan of action to work toward a timely and effective resolution.

Name: Alexander Barr Campaign website: barrfordistrict4.com Date and place of birth: 06/25/1982; Davie, FL In your opinion, is…

[17
483,249,251,250,482
post-426835","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-lauderdale","tag-commentary","tag-fort-lauderdale","tag-fort-lauderdale-headlines","tag-fort-lauderdale-news","tag-opinion
["GET
