CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WINK) \u2014 A 7-year-old Cape Coral boy is without his bike after someone stole it right off his family’s front porch.<\/p>\n
For Luke Wilcox, life’s simple pleasures include riding his bike and trips to the park with dad. But now, those rides have come to a stop.<\/p>\n
“Sad,” Luke said. “Because I wanted to ride it.”<\/p>\n
His bright green bike \u2014 a gift from his aunt \u2014 was his first big boy bike. He had just gotten tall enough to ride it.<\/p>\n
“He was bummed,” said Jenna Wilcox, Luke’s mom. “Yeah, he loves that bike.”<\/p>\n
For months, that bike sat on their front porch without a problem. Until Monday morning, when someone took it.<\/p>\n
For Jenna, it’s not just about what was stolen, but how it happened.<\/p>\n
“Everyone should have a right to keep their stuff on their property without it getting stolen and it is crazy how comfortable people have gotten with just walking up to someone’s doorstep with bad intentions,” Jenna said.<\/p>\n
Jenna turned to Facebook, hoping someone might recognize the bike. What she didn’t expect was an outpouring of kindness.<\/p>\n
“So many people have just been so supportive and even offering their bikes to us, and it was just amazing,” Jenna said.<\/p>\n
But for Jenna, it’s about more than replacing a bike. It’s about getting back something that belongs to her son.<\/p>\n
“Just to see everyone just be so helpful towards other strangers, it’s hopeful,” Jenna said.<\/p>\n
For Luke, he has one message for the person who took his bike.<\/p>\n
“They give my bike back right now,” Luke said.<\/p>\n
After Jenna shared what happened in a local Cape Coral Facebook group, the community quickly stepped up. Neighbors have been sharing her post to help find the bike, while others have offered to give Luke one of their own or even buy him a brand new one.<\/p>\n
