To the editor,<\/p>\n
With election season underway, our mailboxes and feeds are already filling up with campaign messages.<\/p>\n
As I decide how to cast my ballot, I wanted to share the standard I\u2019m using to make my choices this year. My vote will go exclusively to candidates who run positive, constructive campaigns.<\/p>\n
I believe effective leadership is defined by what someone plans to build, not by how effectively they tear others down. When a candidate spends their energy attacking opponents rather than presenting viable solutions, it tells me very little about how they intend to govern.<\/p>\n
I am looking for candidates who:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Focus on real solutions.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Present clear, actionable ideas for our community\u2019s actual challenges. \u2013<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Demonstrate respect.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Address issues honestly without resorting to personal insults, fearmongering, or division.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Earn support through vision.<\/p>\n
\u2022\u00a0Show what they stand for, not just what they stand against.<\/p>\n
If a candidate chooses to run an affirmative, issue-driven campaign focused on progress, they will have my serious consideration and my vote.<\/p>\n
If they rely on mudslinging, they won’t get my vote.<\/p>\n
I encourage everyone to hold our candidates to this standard. Our community deserves leaders who bring out the best in us.<\/p>\n
