For Christine Blasses, Cape Coral Oktoberfest <\/a>is about more than just beer, bands and bratwurst. It’s about warmth and friendship.<\/p>\n

“In Germany, we have the saying, Gem\u00fctlichkeit \u2014 which is actually a feeling,” Blasses said in August, soon after being chosen as this year’s Ms. Oktoberfest<\/a>. “You can’t really translate it. But it’s kind of just a feeling of warmth and togetherness and friendship and family.<\/p>\n

“And Oktoberfest brings that and shows it. And that’s what you experience when you go there.”<\/p>\n

Southwest Floridians can find out for themselves at the 2026 Cape Coral Oktoberfest. The popular annual event opens this Friday, Oct. 16, and continues through Oct. 25 at the Cape’s German American Social Club.<\/p>\n

In addition to warmth and friendship, visitors can expect endless steins of beer, chicken dancing, carnival rides, games, mountains of bratwurst and potato pancakes, and dance bands flown in straight from Germany.<\/p>\n

As this year’s Ms. Oktoberfest, Blasses will preside over the event in the traditional crystal-covered crown and dirndl dress as she meets people, judges the event’s popular stein-holding contest and generally represents the club and German culture.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to just sharing the music, the food, the dancing and the traditions,” she said.<\/p>\n

The German Oktoberfest tradition in Cape Coral\"Cape<\/p>\n

Cape Coral’s annual Oktoberfest celebrates its 40th anniversary Oct. 17-26, 2025 at the German American Social Club.<\/p>\n

Germans have been holding Oktoberfest festivals, in and out of Germany, since the tradition started in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria.<\/p>\n

From there, the festival has evolved into a worldwide annual event known for German food, music and a good-time atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Cape Coral’s German American Club has been holding its own public Oktoberfest for 41 years. But it actually started as a private event for club members in 1964.<\/p>\n

Now club members say Cape Coral Oktoberfest is the biggest stand-alone Oktoberfest in the state. About 40,000 people attend every year over both weekends, according to organizers.<\/p>\n

Meet Ms. Oktoberfest\"Christine<\/p>\n

Christine Blasses has just been named Ms. Oktoberfest for the 2026 Oktoberfest at Cape Coral’s German American Social Club.<\/p>\n

Blasses said she’s “absolutely honored” to be chosen as this year’s Ms. Oktoberfest. She was crowned in July at the annual Ms. Oktoberfest Pageant.<\/p>\n

“I’m from a German background, you know,” she said. “I’m German and American. So I get both cultures, and I’m very honored to represent the German American Social Club.”<\/p>\n

Blasses \u2014 a Realtor who was born in Bavaria, Germany, but now lives in the Cape \u2014 moved to the United States 26 years ago and just became a US citizen in July. Getting her citizenship was a big moment for her, and she says she’s both proud and overwhelmed by the achievement.<\/p>\n

“It’s another chapter in my life,” she said, “and I’m super excited.”<\/p>\n

Blasses has lived in Cape Coral for seven years. She said she wants to serve as a bridge between the German and American communities, and also encourage younger people and new members to become involved with the club.<\/p>\n

Tickets, times and info for Cape Coral Oktoberfest\"Christine<\/p>\n

The 41st Oktoberfest takes place Oct. 16-18 and Oct. 23-25 at the German American Social Club, 2101 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral.<\/p>\n

Festival hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Fridays, noon to midnight Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the gate (free for ages 12 and younger, prices subject to change). VIP passes are $125-$150 and include a private seating area with its own bar and restrooms. Parking is free.<\/p>\n
