{"id":428795,"date":"2026-10-15T19:22:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T19:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/428795\/"},"modified":"2026-10-15T19:22:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T19:22:08","slug":"miami-man-accused-of-attacking-fellow-gymgoer-with-dumbbell-at-la-fitness-nbc-6-south-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/428795\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami man accused of attacking fellow gymgoer with dumbbell at LA Fitness \u2013 NBC 6 South Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Miami man was arrested after he was accused of attacking a fellow gymgoer with a dumbbell during a dispute at an LA Fitness, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>William Gonzalez, 67, was arrested Wednesday on an aggravated battery charge in the incident that happened at the gym at 9291 West Flagler Street, an arrest report said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report the victim said he was involved in a heated dispute with Gonzalez over using the weighted dumbbells, and at one point the dispute escalated.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s when the victim said Gonzalez grabbed a dumbbell and struck him with it in the side of his head and his forearm, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>When officers responded, the victim was found with a bump on the side of his head and a scratch on his forearm.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalez told police he used the weight to scare the victim away but denied hitting him with it, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>But an employee said she saw Gonzalez chasing the victim throughout the gym as the victim ran away, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzalez was booked into jail.
