JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 A Jacksonville mother is asking for answers after her 23-year-old son was shot and killed in Arlington<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Bryce Scott was shot near Bert Road on Oct. 5, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office. Officers responding to the scene around 3 p.m. found him with multiple gunshot wounds. The sheriff\u2019s office has not identified a suspect.<\/p>\n

Scott\u2019s mother, Alexandria Scott, said she learned about the shooting from the news and did not realize her son was the victim.<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually saw the news. I was like, \u2018Who got shot over there?\u2019 Somebody being shot, and I didn\u2019t even realize it was my own kid,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said she regrets not being with her son when he died.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel bad because I wasn\u2019t there when my son died, and I feel bad because I wasn\u2019t there when he took his last breath. Other people were around him,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Scott said she believes someone in the community saw what happened and may be able to help investigators.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomebody saw something. They saw my son running. My son was an athlete, so he was running. So someone saw my son running. Somebody saw something,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve made it my mission to find out who did this to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The advocacy group Mad Dads of Northeast Florida has shared images of Scott on its Facebook page and encouraged people to share information about the investigation. An Arlington resident also urged the community to support the family and keep Scott\u2019s name in the public eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeep fighting. Honestly, the life lost does not mean the fight ends. The fight starts when the life is lost,\u201d Kalynn Edwards said. \u201cMake sure his name is heard, make sure everybody knows what happened. In the area itself, as a community, we need to come together to do something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott\u2019s family plans to hold a memorial service on Oct. 23. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact JSO or Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n
