WATFORD, England (AP) \u2014 Jacob Bobenmoyer had tossed his passport in a bathroom drawer at some point, figuring he\u2019s not leaving the country anytime soon.<\/p>\n

They needed a long snapper \u2014 in London.<\/p>\n “They called me and I was like \u2018man I hope it\u2019s still there,\u2019\u201d Bobenmoyer said.<\/p>\n It was.<\/p>\n Jacksonville signed Bobenmoyer to its practice squad after long snapper Ross Matiscik injured his shoulder in last Sunday\u2019s 19-17<\/a> victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.<\/p>\n The Jags remained in town for Sunday\u2019s game against the Houston Texans<\/a> at Wembley Stadium.<\/p>\n Bobenmoyer explained after practice Thursday the sequence of events leading to his unlikely trip to London.<\/p>\n He was on a camping trip with his two young children in Colorado \u2014 where they live \u2014 when his agent texted him about being contacted by the Jags. The team had reached out during the game.<\/p>\n So, Bobenmoyer cut short the camping trip and drove home in case he\u2019d need to leave that night, \u201cand that\u2019s exactly what happened.\u201d He said he was \u201cchanging diapers and whatnot when the Jaguars called me and told me that they\u2019re flying me out.\u201d<\/p>\n With his wife out of town, Bobenmoyer arranged childcare \u2014 they also have several dogs \u2014 with his mother-in-law and drove to Denver for an overnight flight to London. He arrived midday Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, it was a whirlwind,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Matiscik has not practiced this week because of the injury. The Jags would need to elevate Bobenmoyer off the practice squad for him to play Sunday.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old Bobenmoyer played the past three seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> and before that spent three years with the Denver Broncos<\/a>. He played linebacker and long snapper at Northern Colorado.<\/p>\n \u201cI just train and work out exactly how I would exactly how I would if I was with a team,” he said. “It paid off.\u201d<\/p>\n
