{"id":43036,"date":"2025-11-11T23:16:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T23:16:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/43036\/"},"modified":"2025-11-11T23:16:06","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T23:16:06","slug":"missionary-daughter-killed-in-fl-small-plane-crash-on-trip-to-jamaica-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/43036\/","title":{"rendered":"Missionary, Daughter Killed In FL Small Plane Crash On Trip To Jamaica: Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CORAL SPRINGS, FL \u2014 The founder of an evangelical Christian ministry and his daughter died in a fiery small plane crash on Monday morning in south Florida, according to multiple reports. <\/p>\n<p>Alexander Wurm, 53, who founded the ministry Ignite the Fire and his daughter, Serena, 22, were traveling to deliver supplies to those recovering from Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica when their plane went down in a residential area in Coral Springs, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/father-daughter-died-plane-taking-aid-jamaica-crashed-florida-rcna243163\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NBC News reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Coral Springs police and the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department responded to the crash site at 5000 Northwest 57th Way in the Windsor Bay neighborhood around 10:20 a.m., the city of Coral Springs said in a news release. <\/p>\n<p>While the city didn\u2019t name the victims, it confirmed that two people were killed in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Police are working with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office to investigate the crash. <\/p>\n<p>Wurm was piloting the 1976 Beechcraft King Air plane that took off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and was headed for Jamaica when it crashed into a lake behind a Coral Springs Home, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caymancompass.com\/2025\/11\/11\/cayman-church-founder-and-daughter-die-in-plane-crash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Cayman Compass reported<\/a>. The plane was scheduled to land at Montego Bay International Airport and had already made several trips bringing supplies to the island. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sounded to me like two race cars, then \u2018boom,\u2019 like a quick hit or explosion,\u201d area resident Dawn Marrill <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/broward\/father-and-daughter-identified-as-victims-of-coral-springs-plane-crash-aircraft-was-carrying-relief-supplies-to-jamaica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told WSVN<\/a>. \u201cI looked up, and I saw, like, all this debris in the air. Like, it looked like somebody blew up a building, and it was just everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Robert Swinger-Vargas told the news outlet that he was in his car when he saw the plane go down and called 911.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext thing we know, it just took a dive, and it went straight to the ground,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ignite the Fire Ministry confirmed the deaths of the father and daughter, releasing a statement on Monday night, saying Alexander Wurm was known for his &#8220;warmth and unwavering kindness&#8221; and that he &#8220;devoted his life to serving others,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/father-daughter-killed-plane-crash-carrying-hurricane-relief\/story?id=127400912\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ABC News reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Throughout his life, Alex travelled extensively, reaching various countries and continents, where he tirelessly worked to bring faith, compassion, and support to those in need.
