This time around, the leads are Emmy nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles, with George MacKay also in the cast. This drama puts the Dashwood sisters’ relationship front and center, which some critics love, and others have mixed feelings about. The biggest complaints are the inconsistent tone, strange humor, and overreliance on CGI, but on the bright side, some of the actors seem to know the assignment and are hamming it up. This story follows a scuba diver who, while looking for his father’s remains, is eaten by an 80-foot, 60-ton sperm whale. Yikes. The movie, which runs less than 110 minutes, is being well received, especially given how goofy the trailers made it look, with a 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, a 6.6 on IMDb, and a 3.3/5 on Letterboxd.
