{"id":430718,"date":"2026-10-17T20:30:23","date_gmt":"2026-10-17T20:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/430718\/"},"modified":"2026-10-17T20:30:23","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T20:30:23","slug":"jaguars-eye-a-full-2028-home-slate-in-jacksonville-in-shift-that-could-end-wembley-run-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/430718\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguars eye a full 2028 home slate in Jacksonville in shift that could end Wembley run"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Associated Press<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">LONDON (AP) \u2014 Jacksonville\u2019s run of playing an annual home game at Wembley Stadium could be nearing its end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/jacksonville-jaguars-team\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaguars<\/a> president Mark Lamping said Saturday the team hopes to keep all of its 2028 home games in Jacksonville to coincide with the re-opening of its stadium following a $1.4 billion renovation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">The Jags were early adopters of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL&#8217;s<\/a> international push and began staging an annual game at Wembley in 2013, but the economic incentive to do so has been decreasing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">Jacksonville will play its 16th London game on Sunday when the team faces the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nfl\/houston-texans-team\" class=\"entity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Texans<\/a> at Wembley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">Lamping told Jacksonville reporters in London that the plan for the 2028 season is a full slate at its \u201cstadium of the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">\u201cIf there\u2019s a natural year where you probably want to play every home game in Jacksonville, it would be the year you open a new stadium,\u201d Lamping said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">Construction has already begun with EverBank Stadium at reduced capacity this season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">The Jags will move most of their home games to Orlando next season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">The team has the option of playing three home games in London next season, but Lamping said the likelihood of that is \u201cremote.&#8221; He said that option was designed more for if the team had chosen to play in Gainesville next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt6 mg-b-15 article-content\" use-external-image=\"true\" data-v-baabd5ed=\"\">Jacksonville&#8217;s games at Wembley are separate from the NFL-mandated international games. In that category, the Jaguars are set to play one game abroad next season.
