FORT MYERS \u2014 The walks in the waters of Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve may become just a big more spooky.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooking for a new adventure this Halloween?\u201d it asked in a news release. \u201cFor the first time ever, the boardwalk at Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve will be the setting for a unique, interactive and fun Halloween experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Friends of Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve is hosting \u201cSloughwitched.\u201d<\/p>\n
It is a Halloween walking play, the news release noted.<\/p>\n
Guests will encounter \u201cunimaginable alligators, owls and other creatures of the night,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere won\u2019t be any chainsaws or scary movie figures,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n
It is set up to be \u201cspooky and suspenseful\u201d along with thoughtful, memorable and provocative, it noted.<\/p>\n
The walks will last about 90 minutes and are set for Oct. 23 and Oct. 24.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe guided nighttime experience will begin at 6:30 p.m., with staggered groups of 12 guests departing every 15 minutes,\u201d it stated. \u201cThe last group will go out at 8:30 p.m. and finish about 10 p.m.\u201d<\/p>\n
It includes a non-alcoholic beverage and witch-decorated cookie for each guest. It costs $38 for people not members of the Friends group; $30 for Friends members and $20 for students.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe student fee includes a one-year complimentary Friends membership for those ages 18 and older,\u201d it noted. \u201cA package of four tickets is offered for $130. Participants must be at least 10 years old. Parking is included in the admission price.\u201d<\/p>\n
Admission is limited to 200. The Friends advise people to register on Eventbrite or a link on the Friends website at www.sloughpreserve.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Slough boardwalk is wheelchair accessible, it noted.<\/p>\n The Slough boardwalk closes at noon Oct. 23 and reopens at sunrise Oct. 25 to allow for the event.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Friends is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting and promoting Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve for future generations through education and community partnerships,\u201d it noted.<\/p>\n Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve is at 7751 Penzance Blvd., Fort Myers.<\/p>\n \u201cThe preserve has more than 3,500 acres of wetland ecosystem, with a boardwalk trail and Interpretive Center. Animals like otters, alligators, turtles, wading birds, and more live at the Slough year-round. Others, like migrating birds and butterflies, use the Slough as a feeding area or a winter home,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n
