The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the victim is listed in non-life-threatening condition. <\/p>\n

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an altercation led to a person being shot on Mill Creek Road early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

JSO said officers responded to the 700 block of Mill Creek Road around 1:40 a.m. in reference to the shooting.<\/p>\n

When they arrived, officers were alerted that a victim was transported to a local hospital. At the hospital, JSO says officers located a juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. \u00a0<\/p>\n

According to JSO reports, the victim is listed in non-life-threatening condition.<\/p>\n

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and his friends were in the area of the Regency Mall hanging out; When two vehicles pulled up and the occupants began arguing with the victim and his friends. The victim and friends left the scene to get away from these individuals, but they were followed to a business on Mill Creek Road. The argument continued until a suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim. The suspected vehicles were both SUV\u2019s; One was white and the other suspected vehicle was red. The two groups are not known to each other, according to JSO. \u00a0<\/p>\n

JSO said detectives with the Robbery and Violent Crime Unit are interviewing witnesses, canvassing the area for surveillance video, and are following up on investigative leads.<\/p>\n
