A motorcycle rider was killed after colliding with a pickup truck on Saturday night in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n
FHP reported that a 25-year-old Melbourne man, driving a 2027 Jeep Gladiator, was stopped in the northbound lane around 9:23 p.m. on County Road 511, John Rhodes Boulevard, at the intersection of Pummelo Street, just north of U.S. 192 west of Melbourne near Interstate 95.<\/p>\n
A 29-year-old Pageland, South Carolina man riding a 2007 Suzuki SV650 was traveling southbound on C.R. 511, approaching the intersection of Pummelo Street.<\/p>\n
The Jeep attempted to make a left turn and entered the direct path of the Suzuki.<\/p>\n
FHP indicated that the motorcyclist was traveling above the posted speed limit and attempted to brake. As a result, the right side of the pickup truck collided with the right side of the motorcycle.<\/p>\n
The truck driver was not injured and remained on scene, while the rider was transported to Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital and pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
