FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) \u2014 A new stretch of Three Oaks Parkway is set to open to drivers in Lee County on Monday, Nov. 2, providing another north-south route through Southwest Florida.<\/p>\n
According to an Oct. 19 news release from Lee County Government, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Three Oaks Parkway, south of the new Fiddlesticks Boulevard intersection.<\/p>\n
SEE ALSO:\u00a0Naples intersection upgrade aims to ease traffic on Vanderbilt Beach Road<\/a><\/p>\n The extension connects Three Oaks Parkway across the Fiddlesticks Canal to Daniels Parkway.<\/p>\n Lee County officials said the project completes the Three Oaks Parkway corridor, providing an alternative north-south route to Interstate 75 through the Village of Estero, Bonita Springs and into Collier County.<\/p>\n The new section features four divided lanes, with two 11-foot-wide travel lanes in each direction, 5-foot-wide bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway.<\/p>\n A new roundabout at Fiddlesticks Boulevard and Old Fiddlesticks Boulevard also provides access to the nearby Publix shopping center.<\/p>\n While the roadway will open following the ribbon cutting, Lee County officials said additional construction will continue in the area.<\/p>\n Remaining work includes restriping the Three Oaks Parkway and Palomino Lane intersection at Daniels Parkway. The county said Daniels Parkway has also been widened to eight lanes between Danport Boulevard and Apaloosa Lane\/Powers Court, but all eight lanes will not open until final paving and striping are completed.<\/p>\n The original construction contract called for completion in mid-2028. County officials now expect the project to be finished in early 2027, substantially ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n The ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature remarks from Lee County commissioners and other officials.<\/p>\n Residents planning to attend are asked to follow event and parking signs. People living in nearby neighborhoods are encouraged to walk or bicycle to the ceremony.<\/p>\n The county will also livestream the event on its YouTube channel<\/a> and Facebook page<\/a>\u00a0for those unable to attend.<\/p>\n
