The University of North Florida Student Government elections office has canceled the fall election process because it is uncontested for the third consecutive year<\/a>. Voting for the senatorial candidates was scheduled for Oct. 20 and 21, according to the SG website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Office of Elections did not receive the required number of senatorial candidates. As a result, there will not be a competitive election process for the senatorial positions this semester,\u201d Supervisor of Elections Asvidhi Ladumor said in an email sent to eligible senatorial candidates.<\/p>\n

While 24 candidates originally expressed interest in the election, only 19 were found eligible to run as the process progressed, Ladumor said.<\/p>\n

Every candidate running in University of North Florida Student Government elections must attend at least one mandatory candidacy meeting, according to the Office of Elections. Missing this requirement results in immediate disqualification<\/p>\n

Under Section 602.8 C8 of the Election Code<\/a>, \u201c20 or less senatorial candidates and\/or unopposed presidential and vice-presidential candidates shall be declared the winner by acclamation. No election for the respective seat shall be held.\u201d<\/p>\n
