TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Florida appeals court has ordered State Attorney Jack Campbell to explain why he should not be investigated, sanctioned, or disciplined over emails and comments about the leak of a confidential grand jury report tied to Hope Florida.<\/p>\n
An order from the First District Court of Appeal accuses Campbell of violating confidentiality rules by emailing the unredacted report to dozens of people. The court also ordered Campbell to explain what information he sent and to whom.<\/p>\n
The order comes after CBS Miami published the leaked grand jury report. Court records show Campbell then emailed the parties involved, pointing to communications between the Leon County Clerk of Courts and the District Court of Appeal clerk as a potential source of the leak.<\/p>\n

The First DCA said that explanation does not hold up with the timeline of events. That court claims the Leon County Clerk did not transmit the unredacted report until two weeks after the leak. <\/p>\n
Earlier this month,<\/a> the First District Court of Appeal ruled that the entire report should be expunged.<\/p>\n The grand jury report alleged that $10 million in settlement money was improperly funneled for political purposes, pointing toward Governor Ron DeSantis and Florida\u2019s past and present attorneys general. However, the grand jury did not criminally charge anyone.<\/p>\n Campbell had five days to respond to the court\u2019s order.
