With a new big-screen version of \u201cMiami Vice\u201d coming to theaters in 2028, Miami-Dade County commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution to provide more than $1 million in incentives for the production of \u201cMiami Vice \u201985.\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the resolution, Miami-Dade\u2019s Office of Film and Entertainment will negotiate $1.02 million grant agreement with the production.<\/p>\n

For \u201cMiami Vice \u201985\u201d to receive the funding, the production must meet several conditions:<\/p>\n

Spend at least $10 million in Miami-Dade County.<\/p>\n

Employ county residents as at least 30% of the below-the-line crew engaged for the county portion of the production.<\/p>\n

Use local businesses for at least 50% of the vendors and contractors engaged for the county portion of the production, or spend at least $5 million in qualifying expenditures with local businesses.<\/p>\n

Submit an acceptable independent compliance audit.<\/p>\n

The previous film adaptation of “Miami Vice” came out in 2006, starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, respectively. <\/p>\n

NBC6 Meteorologist Ryan Phillips had a cameo in the film when the production filmed at WTVJ. <\/p>\n

Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan will take over as Crockett and Tubbs, respectively for “Miami Vice ’85,” which is set for a 2028 release. <\/p>\n

The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski.<\/p>\n
